Heart Journal Week 5

Hi All!! I didn't have time to post a blog before I left on Vacation, but here is my Spread for the Week 5 Challenge: Pieces of Me. We were encouraged to use paper piecing techniques and I used fabric as well from old shirts. That is where the images came from. Here is the description I had on the message boards:

So, the Pieces of me Reminded me of Pieces of 8. So I used that along with my pages. I was talking to my husband about the fabric tip and he said he had a couple old shirts so when I took a look at them I knew they'd be perfect, so the quad and pirate image are from his old shirts.

The page is filled with all things that when pieced together you will get me. Not that I am a pirate but I have totally fallen for the romanticism of the Pirate's of Old.

I decided to piece things together I would use no glue! Well, the next best thing was staples. I have never used staples in any of my designs before so this was challenging and uniqu
e to me.

Week 4 He{art} Journal at The Greeting Farm

Hi everyone! Well this week's challenge was to hand draw "The Girl In Me." One of the reasons I enjoy stamping and scrapbooking so much is that I don't HAVE to draw!!! I have never liked anything I had to draw but I still wanted to participate in this challenge so I got the pencil out and started drawing.

I started out by sketching the girl. I had no idea what I was going to put on the page. While I was trying to figure out what to do with the hands (isn't that always a challenge???) and then I decided to use the sign for "I Love You." From there I just felt like drawing something that represented the loved ones I've lost so I drew each thing I could draw that would represent that someone, Grandpa was the heart guitar, Darlene was the colorful butterfly, Dusti had her doggie ears, and Connie was the little Angel flying among the flowers.

Part of the challenge was using a medium not used before. So rather than go buy something I instead rummaged through materials I had purchased prior but never used. So I used the markers I had that I've only used maybe once, and the Mod Podge with glitter I bought but hadn't used yet. That was also a homage to Connie, she is the one that introduced me to Mod Podge.

Wedding Anniversary and a Mermaid!

So here are two cards I made this weekend. These cards have been so much fun to make!!
This Wedding Anniversary card was made using TGF Digi Stamp KissyKissy, printed on SU Whisper White SU cardstock. I used the SU Manhattan Flower Stampin Up set for the background and Basic Black Cardstock for the card. Colors used to color the bride and groom and flowers was Baja Breeze and Pale Plum. I also used some Bermuda Bay and Perfect Plum to add more color. Close to Cocoa was the color I blended with for the hair. The Happy Anniversary stamp was from Michaels.

All in all I am super happy with this card. It opens from the middle for a trifold with quotes on the two sides. I am going to check later today to make sure I have the right colors named.

Here is the other card I made. This one was for the W.O.W. Challenge on The Greeting Farm's website. I loved this design and combination so much I made 7 cards of this design. I'll take pix of them later, those ones are for sale for $4 each.

This card was made using some scraps I had left of water designed paper, SU Kraft color paper and SU Creamy Caramel. The mermaid's hair was hand hut out of Bermuda Bay cardstock and SU Pale Plum was used for the seashell top and starfish. I used the crimper for the bottom colored paper and the Sand Stamps from the Safire Designs (that is no longer in business :() To top it off, I used the liquid pearls for the pearls in her hair. Gosh this was a lot of fun! Enjoy!
