DeNami August Blog Hop!!

Well it is that wonderful time again-a DeNami Blog Hop!! BOLD, Bright and Beautiful! You should be hopping here from the
spectacular Linda Monroe's blog )!!
If for some reason you started here at my blog, hop on over to the DeNami website to start from the beginning! Whoop whoop!!

Boy but I didn't know where to start with this blog hop, as I am a more neutral kinda coloring girl. SO I just grabbed my yellow paper and some old bright paper scraps I had tucked away in my drawer and started piecing. I first envisioned a more fruity card and my idea turned into something else completely! I used the Surfer Mimi stamp that I got at the Carson Convention last time and the little fruit petites along with the grapes. And the "Sending you Sunshine" Stamp that is one of my favorite sentiments of all time!

I cut the patterned paper to size then used the scallop border on the end to accent the purple color more. I hand cut a "Polaroid" box and then masked off the "picture" part. Stamped Mimi, then used a dauber for the sky. Colored her with some bright colored Stampin Up In Colors (from 2 years ago, my favorites!) Removed the masks and popped her up. Then I cut out the fruits and popped them up with dimensionals. Added stickles where I thought they would go and some crystal effects to accent the other. Then used a scrap piece of twinery Ocean color that I had left on the desk from a different project and tied a bow. VOILA!

I actually was going to use the latest DeNami challenge for this one but that card didn't really come out as I had in mind. So, I started with the Mimi card and I really liked how this one came out!

SO there ya have it! I hope you are enjoying the blog hop so far! NEXT stop is the super awesome

Good News and a Beautiful Card!

So my good, no, AWESOME news today is that after 3 and 1/2 months of the Herbalife program and a mildly vigorous exercise program, my body fat percentage is down 8% and I've lost 18lbs! Sure it isn't a huge amount but it is a manageable amount that is not only starting to slim me down but I haven't felt this good in ages! SO, go me!

Now to the crafty stuff. Since finding Some Odd Girl I have become a complete fan and my favorite SOGgy so far is the Tropical Mae. I just can't get enough of coloring her and adding her to a card with total beachy decor! So when asked to make a card for my friends wife (who has loved my cards from the beginning and even gets teary eyed!) I knew I needed to make a gorgeous card with my favorite Mae. So here ya have it. This card is so special because it was so loved by the earth, it quaked in excitement! (4.4 magnitude and a jumper!)

So this Tropical Mae was made with some decorative beach paper (I think DCW...I'll update the blog later tonight when I confirm). I used Stampin Up cardstock and the Fancy Flower stamp set from Stampin Up and using the Easel Card technique. I colored Mae with Copics (I am starting to improve a tad on coloring, IMO) and added stickles to the colors of the flowers and a gold brad for the middle. The shells on the bottom are genuine common shells found along Huntington Beach, CA. If anyone knows that beach then they probably know that the shells aren't all that pretty. But for me, they fancy up right away when you paint liquid pearls on them! Wow but do they shimmer! The picture doesn't do it justice but there ya have it.
