So if you follow my blog you may have noticed I have been really into the mosaic look after Tim Holtz's 12 Tags of 2012 showcased the technique. So after making the Butterfly Mosaic Card for my friend's mother, she asked me if I could do something for her Dad in the same technique. We discussed and obviously couldn't use a butterfly for a guy. So as soon as she said "Jack Daniels" the image of the card popped in my head. Being a Jack Daniels drinker myself, I knew what we could do.
So I used the squared bottle to trace an image and I then had my template. I cut a piece of black cardstock and inked it completely with versamark and heat set black embossing powder to it. That created a nice base for the label. I used my inkjet copier and just put a bottle of Jack on the scanner and did a black and white "copy" onto white cardstock. I then cut the label in little paper pieces. I adhered the black label to the cut out of Soft Suede SU Cardstock then added a layer of mod podge to the label and started piecing the label fragments. I continued that down the whole label, mod podge, fragments, mod podge (to keep them in place). I tried to keep the fragments in the order of the label just jumbled them along the way. After that I did another complete coat of mod podge to make sure the fragments were secured. I let that dry while I made the "cracked glass" on the rest of the "bottle". I used a ranger glass crackle medium on the soft suede. Set that aside to let it dry. Once all was dry I used the crystal effect on each fragment. Then cut out a piece of black cardstock and folded it for the "lid". And there ya have it. A mosaic bottle of Jack Daniels. Jack Daniels is a Registered Trademark and all rights reserved. This is a work of art using that awesome product! :)
